The Election Results for the 8th-grade Class Representatives
On a cold and beautiful Monday morning, the Commissioner of Citizenship(Eleanor Lee‘21) announced the new semester class reps to all the 8th-grade kids. I was of course ecstatic to find out who had won the race, considering I ran with a friend. She revealed the shocking news of Ruby Harris’25 and Evelyn Frohsin’25’s decisive win.
The race had many whimsical and quite frankly fake candidates who didn’t even submit a video, but there were four main teams up for the challenge. They were C.J. Nwosu’25 and Chance Smith’25, Sohana Caplash’25 and Samuel White’25, Jackson Geisen’25 and Aviva Goldberg’25, Krishna Wilby’25 and Catherine Hinson’25, and the current class reps Ruby Harris and Evelyn Frohsin. The candidates had to collect 25 or more signatures from every grade to qualify for running. Many fake teams had gotten 25 or more signatures, but they failed in the next part.
Next, the runners and their running mates had to make a video describing why they are fit for the job. The video had to be short but powerful. “It was very hard”, Chance Smith told me, “having to create a video with two different file formats was so hard.” On Thursday, September 2nd, the videos were shown all over the 8th-grade advisory classes. People had started to make their minds up about who they would elect.
Finally, the vote happened on September 3rd. The votes were assessed Friday and all of the weekend until on that cold Monday morning of the 7th of September when Eleanor publicly told everyone that Ruby and Evelyn(Evie) had become our class reps. The opposing pairs weren’t sad in the long run because they had sights for winter. Samuel stated, “It was saddening at first but now I know I will run next semester with a better running mate and a good idea.” “We were so shocked when the Commissioner of Citizenship told us we won on email. We are going to have a wonderful semester together,” Ruby and Evie said during an interview earlier in the month. Currently, the class rep pair is brainstorming and giving people a chance to speak their minds about 8th merchandise and other fun things they have in store for the semester. They are also receiving guidance from former and current class reps for ideas on projects.
